About Us

Ratoath BMX Founded 2010

We have successfully created Ireland’s first full size, award winning UK competition standard BMX Race track in Ratoath, Co. Meath. The venue has received full planning permission from Meath County Council and is situated a few hundred meters from Fairyhouse Race Course on the Fairyhouse Road. The track has also received the backing of Cycling Ireland, the national body that oversees all matters connected with cycling nationwide.  We have won an award for our design and creation of an  off-road facility from Cycling Ireland.

 Ratoath BMX Club

Ratoath BMX club is the first club in Ireland formed since BMX racing stopped in the late 1980’s, Ratoath resurrected the sport in Ireland by the hard work of its volunteers and has built a community funded UK national Standard BMX track for the locals and wider community. Opening in late 2011 and with a membership in 2012 of over 600 members it became the largest Cycling Club in Ireland by a factor of two, and voted the second best cycling club by a Cycling Ireland poll in 2012. We are very proud of our achievements and hope you enjoy the benefits for you and your family of what BMX racing can do for you.

Award 2011

BMX has recently experienced a huge rebirth in the UK, EU and rest of the World and in 2008 was designated an Olympic Medal Event. It has proved to be one of the most popular additions to the Olympic movement worldwide and Ireland just missed out by a single point to have it’s first BMX Olympic participant, Kelvin Batey, in the London 2012 Olympics. The Track is home to Ratoath BMX Club and is hosting national racing events every year as the only outdoor track at present.

By working very closely with the community and those interested in BMX racing from the late 1980’s BMX has been re-born in Ireland by the completion of Ratoath BMX track.
