Once again, all the prayers paid off with the sun shining down on Shay McNally, factor 50 for him for the next race. The racing kicked off with the under 6 Boys showing how courageous they are heading down the first straight at full pace. It was a great battle with a full gate (8) heading into the first corner, in the end it was James Wood who took first place it must a proud day for Mam & Dad to have the youngest All-Ireland BMXer living in their House well done to all the guys.

The under 7 boys were next. Guess what happened Paddy Power wouldn’t even give you odds on Corey not wining, next it was Callum Clancy, Charlie Jackson and Cal Gilmer. Under 8 Boys saw more close racing it was Adam Gillen’s first ever race he finished 4th overall Ruben Smith (ECR) took the win Jack Nally 2nd Ruben Byrne 3rdand Alex Hall just behind Adam. Under 9 boys was won by Ryan Quinn from DC BMX then Lee, Aaron, Calvin and Niall Davis who got bucked off his horse on the first straight in one of the Moto’s it was good to see him back for the last race well done Niall what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Boys 10 was won by Morgan Kearney, Cian O Sullivan 2nd Zack Costello 3rd and Luke Kennedy from Lisburn BMX club in 4th

Under 11 boys Daniel Barker won all his Moto’s taking his All-Ireland medal home to his hard working Daddy the other riders finished in this order Ross Callaghan, Shane Rowe, Alex Nally, Adam Jackson, Lucas Kane and Nathan Hall.

Boys 13 saw Kate Larkin mixing it up with the boys so no pressure lads, Kate did brilliantly all day and like we said before, we need more Girls racing, so bring a friend Boys and Girls, this race was won by Adam Davis, Leon Curley 2nd and Jason Rowe in 3rd

Junior Men (11 riders) this was a new age group for the Championship with some great racing, the guys were pushing themselves to the limit it was great to see how smooth the were over the jumps, well done Lads the 1st place medal and the number one jersey went to Eoin Corrigan we will be seeing him at the Cycle Ireland Awards. Most of the Ladies had their first ever BMX race in Ratoath today and boy did they do well so hurry back Girls we want to see more.

The Elite Men

The 30 + guys joined up with the Elites to make this day a day to remember with 19 Riders in the group it made every moto an exciting one, it all came down to the A Final in the end. On the gate we had Eamonn, Lar, Ilmars, Ian, Kevin, Rod, Chad & Jackson. The gate dropped and Eamonn had nearly a full bike length by the bottom of the start gate  Lar knew he was going to have to dig deep and he pulled off a great move going into the first berm, the rest of the pack was bunched up right behind them, Kevin had a fall on the second straight Chad and Jackson had to move around him which split the group now the big guys had the track to themselves it was Lar, Eamonn, Ilmars, Rod and Ian going into the third straight. Lar held on and took the WIN followed by Eamonn, Ilmars, Ian, Rod (30+) Chad and Jackson. Well done to all 19 riders for taking part and for putting the future of BMX firmly in the minds of Cycle Ireland.
