First BMX Race in 26 Years. Nov 27th 2011

Sunday 27th November 2011 witnessed the re-birth of BMX racing in Ireland. A field of 167 riders took part in the Olympic Sport of BMX racing in Ratoath County Meath. The race track was recently built by the Ratoath BMX Club who staged this event with a large turnout featuring a host of top UK based riders including Irelands own Olympic Level BMX racer Kelvin Batey and top UK Pro Rider Grant Hill, the races covered age groups from 5 year olds to 50 years old some racing for the first time some reviving careers dormant for 25 years. Competitors came from the UK and all corners of Ireland. There was a massive spectator count numbering near 1000 and they were treated to great weather and some great racing action.

Thanks to all who made this happen.
